My Story

The Norman Foo Fund:
Cancer is a horrible thing.

Fact: 40% of people who are diagnosed with lung cancer have already progressed to Stage 4.
The median life expectancy of a Stage 4 lung cancer patient is around 8 months.

Norman Foo lost his 3.5 year battle with cancer in the early hours of July 24, 2015. A father, a husband, a grandfather, an academic, and a genuine human being, he was positive and brave to the end.

The Norman Foo Fund (NFF) s a fundraiser dedicated to my late uncle, in his memory. One of his final wishes was for donations to charities in place of flowers/wreaths. Funds raised from this drive will help the Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) fund research to end cancer.

Uncle Norman was truly an inspiration to me. In life, and in death. I have always been in awe of his bravery, optimism, and ability to endure.

To champion this fundraising effort for the NFF I shall compete at what I would consider a true test of physical and mental endurance, at the Busselton Ironman Triathlon on December 6, 2015. The race will consist of a 3.8km swim, followed by a 180km bike ride, and finished with a 42.2km run. This will be my first attempt at a full Ironman-distance triathlon. So please support my cause and donate. There is no sum too insignificant.

You are sorely missed, Uncle Norman.

Thank you for inspiring.
